The Bands History The bands origin goes back to the year 2000 when Jason Woolard formed a small combo known as '3rd String'. High Street Shelter was formed as a result of his desire to broaden the bands musical horizons, and came together in 2002. Original members included Ed Ventura on drums, Tony Ventura on keyboards, and Chris Diehl on bass. The new members brought a vast amount of musical experience to the already well established act. Ed had about 25 years on drums, and his brother Tony about 30 years on keyboards. Chris, although the 'youngster" in the group at 29, still boasted 15 years on his instrument. In 2006 Ed and Chris left High Street Shelter to pursue other musical interests, although Chris Diehl can occasionally still be seen on the sidelines running sound for the group. Fortunately the band soon acquired Chris 'Big Daddy' Miller on bass guitar and Dave 'Double D' Dwyre on drums. The new duo brought a rich bottom end to the band as well as extending the bands vocal range. Dave 'Shakey Dave' Eady joined the group in 2007 playing rhythm guitar as well as providing rich vocal accompaniments. In February 2009, the extremely untimely departure of the bands bass player, Chris Miller, necessitated the urgent search for his replacement. With barely missing a beat that replacement was found. Dennis Zuniga, better known as 'Doctor Z' of the wildly popular Doctor Z Band had agreed to share his time as the new bass player for High Street Shelter. The good Doctor brings along over 30 years of experience to the band and we'd like everyone to extend a warm High Street Shelter welcome to our newest member. So the current cast consists of : The most important aspect of the band is that we all enjoy what we're doing, and this attitude manifests itself on the stage, much to the delight of the audience. After all, music should be about having fun, and when we see the audience having fun, then we know we've done our jobs.
